For the future, I have in mind to produce a profile of Working Boats of London's River Thames.  Sure, this is somewhat out of my usual line of work, you might think, but as a frustrated mariner it's a subject that interests me.  At the moment it's on the back burner after a contract with a publisher fell through, but I hope to return to it in due course.

Currently I'm working on the following projects:

- The Strollerthon Story

- Fifty Paces Forward!

The Strollerthon was one of Britain's biggest charity walks, which took place between 1990 and 2001, raising some £4 million, mainly on behalf of Save the Children.  At its peak there were 20,000 participants.  I was closely involved with the event throughout its history, and I think its story is well worth telling.

Fifty Paces Forward is my first foray into fiction, based on my experiences on the ramblers' excursions that were very popular in the 1960s.  The title comes from the command, "Gentlemen: fifty paces forward!", issued by the walk leader when the ladies desired some privacy to relieve themselves in the bushes.
